Julien Mignot is a French visual artist, photographer and filmmaker who has been active on the contemporary scene since the early 2000s. With a master's degree in geography, he developed an instinctive relationship with the visual arts at an early age, cultivating a practice that oscillates freely between photography, film and material research. His work is driven by a sustained exploration of time, texture and the physical presence of the image.

At the heart of his approach is a sensitive approach to portraiture, where intimacy gives way to visual abstraction. His images are distinguished by a precise attention to light, surface and duration, constructing spaces where stillness and movement coexist. His work has been widely published in the international press, notably in Libération, Le Monde, The New York Times and Vanity Fair, and includes portraits of figures such as David Lynch, John Cale, Lana Del Rey, Martha Argerich and Christian Boltanski.

Alongside his editorial and cultural collaborations, Mignot has developed a personal body of work that has been exhibited in galleries and festivals internationally. His latest series explore interiority and exteriority, memory and the passage of time, forming a radical and coherent body of work that positions the image as both material and experience.

Deeply committed to passing on his knowledge, he regularly teaches and mentors young artists at institutions such as ENS Louis-Lumière, Rencontres d'Arles and Venice, alongside Paolo Roversi, Sarah Moon and Antoine d'Agata. He also served for three years as artistic director of the Image Festival in Amman, under the auspices of the Institut français, promoting sustained dialogue between territories and visual cultures.
